Southern Colorado Activities Scott Coddington October 8, 2026
October is rolling right along, and there's another week of things to do throughout Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, and the surrounding Southern Colorado communities.
Week 2 brings live music, movies, science activities, pumpkin patches, fall outings, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy October in Colorado.
Whether you're looking for a family activity, a date night, or simply an excuse to get out and explore, here are some events to put on your calendar for October 8–14, 2026.
October 9–11 | Venetucci Farm
Pumpkin Fest continues during the second weekend of October at Venetucci Farm.
For generations of Colorado Springs residents, Venetucci Farm and pumpkins have gone hand in hand.
It's a great option for families looking for a traditional fall outing, and with Pumpkin Fest continuing on weekends throughout much of October, there are several opportunities to visit.
If you're new to Colorado Springs, this is also a fun way to experience a little piece of local history while celebrating the season.
October 9 | Colorado Springs
Looking for something completely different for Friday night?
The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight combines recognizable rock music with an atmospheric candlelit setting.
It's a good option for a date night or adults looking for something beyond the traditional pumpkin patches and Halloween activities that dominate October.
Continuing Through October 18 | Various Locations
The Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival continues throughout Week 2.
This multi-day celebration of science, technology, engineering, and hands-on learning includes activities at various locations around the region.
Families with kids interested in science should take a closer look at the individual activities scheduled during the week.
It's also a good reminder that not every October activity needs to involve pumpkins or Halloween.
Saturday in October | Western Museum of Mining & Industry
The Miners' Pumpkin Patch returns for another October Saturday at the Western Museum of Mining & Industry.
This is a fun combination of fall activities and Colorado Springs history.
The museum itself highlights the mining heritage that played such an important role in the development of Colorado and the Pikes Peak region, giving families an opportunity to mix a pumpkin-patch visit with a little local history.
October 13 | Colorado Springs
Fans of Jim Henson's classic Labyrinth have a unique opportunity this week.
Labyrinth: In Concert combines the movie with live musical accompaniment, creating a very different experience from simply watching the film at home.
For anyone who grew up with the movie—or has introduced it to the next generation—this could make for a fun October evening.
You don't necessarily need a ticketed event to enjoy October in Colorado Springs.
This is also a great time of year to explore some of the area's parks, trails, historic districts, and outdoor attractions.
Depending on the weather, consider combining one of this week's events with a visit to:
Colorado weather can change quickly in October, so check conditions before heading out—especially if you're planning to spend the day outside.
Pueblo has its own entertainment lineup during Week 2.
October 8 | Pueblo Memorial Hall
The Rock Orchestra comes to Pueblo Memorial Hall on October 8.
If you're in Pueblo or Pueblo West and looking for live entertainment during the week, this is one of the bigger scheduled performances.
Pueblo Memorial Hall's downtown location also makes it easy to combine the show with dinner or some time exploring the Union Avenue area and Historic Arkansas Riverwalk.
October 10 | Pueblo Memorial Hall
Pueblo Memorial Hall changes gears on October 10 with the Repentance Fashion Show.
It's another example of the variety of entertainment and cultural events taking place in Pueblo throughout October.
If you're heading into Pueblo for an event, consider making an afternoon or evening out of it.
Downtown Pueblo and the surrounding area offer several places worth exploring, including:
For someone who recently moved to Pueblo or Pueblo West, community events can be one of the best ways to start learning the area.
Week 2 appears to be quieter on the major public-event calendar in Pueblo West.
That doesn't mean there's nothing to do.
October can be a great time to enjoy some of the outdoor recreation surrounding Pueblo West.
One of Pueblo West's biggest lifestyle advantages is its proximity to Lake Pueblo State Park and Pueblo Reservoir.
Depending on weather conditions, October can still provide opportunities for:
The cooler temperatures can make hiking and biking particularly enjoyable.
For people considering moving to Pueblo West, spending time around the reservoir is also a great way to understand why outdoor recreation is such a significant part of the area's lifestyle.
October is a great month for exploring beyond your immediate neighborhood.
If you're looking for something spontaneous to do this week, consider a drive toward:
Fall conditions can vary dramatically depending on elevation.
Some higher-elevation areas may already be past peak fall color while lower elevations are just beginning to change.
That's part of what makes fall in Southern Colorado interesting—you can experience completely different scenery within a relatively short drive.
If you're wondering where all the Halloween events are, they're coming.
The second half of October gets considerably busier.
Upcoming events include Boo at the Zoo, Haunted Rides in Pueblo, Haunted Heritage Pueblo, the Emma Crawford Coffin Races in Manitou Springs, Pumpkins in the Park, Boo at Briargate, Monster Jam, Pueblo West's Halloween 5K & Halloween Bash, and several other Halloween celebrations.
We'll cover those events in Week 3 and Week 4 of our October Southern Colorado event series.
Week 2 may not have quite as many major festivals as the opening weekend of October, but there's still plenty to do.
You can visit a pumpkin patch in Colorado Springs, experience live music in Colorado Springs or Pueblo, explore the Cool Science Festival, watch Labyrinth accompanied by live music, spend a day at Pueblo Reservoir, or simply take advantage of the fall weather and explore Southern Colorado.
One of the things I enjoy about living and working here is how different the communities are.
Within a relatively short drive, you can go from downtown Colorado Springs to Pueblo's Riverwalk, Pueblo Reservoir, Garden of the Gods, or the mountain communities west of Colorado Springs.
If you're new to the area—or considering moving to Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, or one of the surrounding Southern Colorado communities—getting out and experiencing these places is one of the best ways to learn what each community has to offer.
I've lived in the Colorado Springs area for decades and have worked in real estate here since 1997. My team and I help buyers and sellers throughout Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain, Woodland Park, Cañon City, and surrounding communities.
Event dates, times, ticket availability, and details can change. Always verify current information with the event organizer before attending.
