Things to Do in Southern Colorado This Week: October 22–31, 2026

Southern Colorado Activities Scott Coddington October 23, 2026

Absolutely. For the fourth and final October blog, I’d cover October 22–31 rather than stopping at October 28. That gives us the entire Halloween weekend and makes Week 4 the strongest post in the series. I rechecked the 2026 event calendars, and there are quite a few confirmed events to include.

Things to Do in Southern Colorado This Week: October 22–31, 2026

October is wrapping up, and Southern Colorado is going out with a bang.

The final stretch of the month brings some of the biggest fall and Halloween events of the year, with coffin races, trick-or-treating, monster trucks, outdoor movies, pumpkin celebrations, zoo animals, live performances, and Halloween festivities happening throughout Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, and the surrounding area.

Whether you're planning Halloween activities with the kids, looking for a date night, or simply want to get out and enjoy the final days of October, here are some of the events happening around Southern Colorado from October 22–31, 2026.

What's Happening in Colorado Springs?

Movies Under the Mountains: Hocus Pocus

October 22 | 5:00 p.m. | Promenade Shops at Briargate

What better way to get ready for Halloween than watching Hocus Pocus outside?

Movies Under the Mountains brings the Halloween favorite to the Pikes Peak Patio at the Promenade Shops at Briargate. Pre-movie activities begin at 5 p.m., with the movie starting around sunset.

Bring chairs and blankets and make an evening of it. Admission is free. Visit Colorado Springs

Monster Jam

October 23–25 | The Broadmoor World Arena

If your family prefers monster trucks to monsters and ghosts, Monster Jam returns to Colorado Springs for four performances.

The show features 12,000-pound Monster Jam trucks competing in a combination of speed and skill competitions.

It's one of the larger family entertainment events happening in Colorado Springs during the final weekend before Halloween. Visit Colorado Springs

Boo at the Zoo

October 23–25 & October 30–31 | Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Boo at the Zoo returns for several more nights during the final week of October.

Families can dress up, trick-or-treat throughout the zoo, and visit the animals during an evening Halloween experience.

The event runs from 4:00–8:30 p.m., and advance timed tickets are required. This is a popular Colorado Springs Halloween tradition, so don't wait until the last minute if you're planning to attend. Visit Colorado Springs

Emma Crawford Coffin Races & Festival

October 24 | Manitou Springs

This may be one of the most unusual Halloween traditions you'll find anywhere in Colorado.

The 32nd Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races return to Manitou Springs on Saturday, October 24.

Costumed teams race creatively decorated coffins down Manitou Avenue while thousands of spectators line the street.

The event commemorates the unusual story of Emma Crawford, whose remains famously came down Red Mountain decades after her burial there.

The fan zone opens at 10 a.m., followed by the parade at noon, coffin races, the Coffin Cup race, awards, and afternoon entertainment in Soda Springs Park.

The event itself is free. Visit Colorado Springs

Pumpkins in the Park

October 24 | Noon–6:00 p.m. | Bancroft Park / Old Colorado City

Old Colorado City gets into the fall spirit with Pumpkins in the Park.

Expect a pumpkin patch and pumpkin painting along with live music, arts, crafts, vendors, fall food, cider, hot chocolate, and other family activities.

This is another free event and could be a great option if you're looking for something a little more relaxed than the coffin races or Monster Jam. Visit Colorado Springs

Sensory-Friendly Trick-or-Treating

October 24 | Colorado Springs

A sensory-friendly trick-or-treating event is also scheduled for October 24, providing another Halloween option for families who may benefit from a more accommodating environment. Visit Colorado Springs

World Ballet Company: Swan Lake

October 25 | 6:00–8:30 p.m.

Not everything happening this week involves pumpkins and costumes.

The World Ballet Company brings Swan Lake to Colorado Springs with a live orchestra, an international cast of 50 dancers, elaborate sets, and more than 150 costumes.

This could be a great Sunday evening option for anyone looking for something completely different from the Halloween festivities. Visit Colorado Springs

Yoga in the Barn

October 29 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.

Need a little break before Halloween weekend?

Yoga in the Barn offers mindful movement and meditation followed by flower picking. The class is designed for all experience levels. Visit Colorado Springs

Halloween Weekend in Colorado Springs

October 30–31

Halloween weekend itself will bring additional haunted houses, ghost tours, trick-or-treating, and neighborhood events throughout the Pikes Peak region.

Boo at the Zoo also returns for its final two evenings on October 30 and Halloween night, October 31. Visit Colorado Springs

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, this should be an especially busy weekend throughout Southern Colorado.

What's Happening in Pueblo?

Pueblo also has several family-friendly events as October comes to an end.

Free Friday Family Movie Night

October 23 | 6:00 p.m. | El Centro del Quinto Sol

Start the weekend with a free family movie night at El Centro del Quinto Sol.

Admission is free, all ages are welcome, and free popcorn is provided to moviegoers.

The specific October movie can be confirmed by calling the center before attending. Pueblo

Pueblo Farmers Market

October 24 & 31 | 7:30 a.m.–Noon | Mineral Palace Park

The Pueblo Farmers Market finishes its 2026 season during the final two Saturdays of October.

Visitors can browse locally grown produce, baked goods, sourdough, honey, handmade crafts, soaps, candies, and other locally produced goods.

If you've been meaning to visit this year, these are your final opportunities before the season ends. Pueblo

El Centro del Quinto Sol's Trunk or Treat

October 24 | 4:00–7:00 p.m.

Break out the Halloween costumes a week early.

El Centro del Quinto Sol hosts a free community Trunk or Treat with candy, Halloween games, and outdoor activities for all ages.

Everyone is welcome, making this one of the more accessible family Halloween activities on Pueblo's calendar. Pueblo

Make a Day of It in Pueblo

If you're already heading into Pueblo for one of the events, you could turn it into a full fall day.

Consider exploring:

  • The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk
  • Union Avenue Historic District
  • Downtown Pueblo
  • Mineral Palace Park
  • Local restaurants and coffee shops
  • Lake Pueblo State Park

October temperatures can make walking around downtown or spending time outdoors considerably more comfortable than the middle of summer.

What's Happening in Pueblo West?

Week 4 finally brings one of Pueblo West's biggest October community events.

Halloween 5K Fun Run & Halloween Bash

October 31 | Lovell Park

Pueblo West wraps up October with its first annual Halloween 5K Fun Run and Halloween Bash.

The course runs through Lovell Park and onto the community trail system, with trick-or-treat stops along the way.

There's also a one-mile fun run option, making the event accessible to a wider range of ages and abilities.

And because it's Halloween, costumes are encouraged, with trophies planned for some of the coolest costumes.

It's a fun combination of exercise, trick-or-treating, costumes, and community activities—and a fitting way to wrap up October in Pueblo West. Pueblo West Metro

Spend Halloween Weekend at Pueblo Reservoir

If costumes and crowds aren't really your thing, Pueblo West offers another option.

Head toward Lake Pueblo State Park and enjoy some time outdoors.

Late October can still provide opportunities for:

  • Hiking
  • Fishing
  • Mountain biking
  • Wildlife viewing
  • Photography
  • Picnicking
  • Exploring the trails around Pueblo Reservoir

Weather can change quickly this time of year, so check conditions before heading out.

One Last Fall Road Trip

The final week of October is also a great excuse to explore another Southern Colorado community.

Consider spending a day in:

  • Manitou Springs
  • Cañon City
  • Florence
  • Penrose
  • Woodland Park
  • Divide
  • Monument
  • Palmer Lake
  • Old Colorado City

You don't necessarily need a scheduled event.

Sometimes one of the best ways to experience Southern Colorado is simply to pick a community you haven't visited recently and spend a few hours exploring.

Wrapping Up October in Southern Colorado

That brings us to the end of our four-week October Things to Do in Southern Colorado series.

Over the course of the month, we've covered everything from pumpkin patches and fall festivals to live music, science activities, sporting events, haunted attractions, trick-or-treating, monster trucks, and even coffin racing.

More importantly, these events highlight something I think people sometimes miss when they're researching a move to Southern Colorado:

Choosing where to live isn't only about the house. It's also about the community and the lifestyle surrounding it.

Colorado Springs offers a larger-city atmosphere with extensive shopping, dining, entertainment, recreation, and established neighborhoods.

Pueblo brings its own history, culture, Riverwalk, local events, and community traditions.

Pueblo West offers a completely different feel, with larger lots in many areas, more open space, and easy access to Pueblo Reservoir.

And the mountain and smaller communities surrounding them each bring something different to the table.

If you're thinking about moving to Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, Monument, Black Forest, Falcon, Fountain, Woodland Park, Cañon City, or one of the surrounding Southern Colorado communities, my team and I would be happy to help you explore your options.

I've lived in the Colorado Springs area for decades and have worked in real estate here since 1997. At Pulse Real Estate Group, we help buyers and sellers throughout Southern Colorado find the community—and the home—that makes sense for them.
